DESCRIPTION
Fukuoka Castle was constructed in the early 17th century by Kuroda Nagamasa, one of the most powerful feudal lords of the Edo Period.
The castle served as the center of the Fukuoka Domain and was once considered one of the largest castles in Kyushu. Although most of the original wooden structures no longer remain, extensive stone walls, gates, moats, and foundation ruins can still be seen today.
