DESCRIPTION
Arashiyama (嵐山) is a scenic district located in the western suburbs of Kyoto. This peaceful village offers a perfect combination of mountains, rivers, and traditional Japanese scenery. Arashiyama is especially popular in spring for cherry blossoms and in autumn for vibrant red and yellow foliage.
The most iconic landmark in Arashiyama is Togetsukyo Bridge (“Moon Crossing Bridge”), surrounded by numerous small shops, restaurants, and attractions.
Arashiyama is also famous for its bamboo forest, where walking paths can get crowded as visitors stop to take photos.
In addition to the bamboo forest, the area is home to several temples and shrines, including Tenryuji Temple, Daikakuji Temple, and Jojakkoji Temple. Other activities include visiting Monkey Park Iwatayama, taking a Hozu River boat tour, and exploring the scenic landscapes of Arashiyama.
