DESCRIPTION
Higashiyama District is one of Kyoto's best preserved historic district. It is like riding a time machine to old Japan when visiting Higashiyama District. Higashiyama is a great place to experience the old traditional Kyoto especially between Kiyomizudera Temple and Yasaka Shrine.
There are lots of shops and restaurants selling Japanese souvenirs and sweets. You can also rent yukata / kimono to walk around here.
Higashiyama District is quite big and you can see lots of temples and old buildings here. The most famous route is the route from Yasaka Shrine to Kiyomizudera Temple which is about 2 km long and around half hour walking.
Access
Take bus number 100 or 206 in direction of Kiyomizudera from Kyoto Station. Get off at Gojozaka bus stop(10 minutes, ¥230 one way) or Gion bus stop(15 minutes, ¥230 yen).
By Car

Hours & Fees
The shops and restaurants here usually open around 9 or 10 am and close around 5 or 6 pm except during Hanataro festival where the whole area is being lighted up.
