DESCRIPTION
Kiyomizudera means "Pure Water Temple" if you translate it directly. Kiyomizudera is located in Eastern Kyoto and is one of the most famous temples in Japan and has been registered as world heritage in UNESCO.
Kiyomizudera is famous for its wooden stage, which offer visitors a nice view of Kyoto City. The stage in Kiyomizudera is the best photo spot.
You can find The Otawa Waterfall at the base of Kiyomizudera's main hall. It has 3 separate streams which is said to have a different benefits, namely to cause longevity, success at school and fortunate love life. But, drinking from those 3 streams is considered greedy. Visitors use cups attached to long poles to drink from The Otawa Waterfall.
On the way to Kiyomizudera, you will pass through busy lanes of Higashiyama District. There are many shops and restaurants selling Kyoto souvenirs and sweets. It is also great to rent yukata and walk around Higashiyama district.
Access
Kiyomizudera is easily accessible from Kyoto Station by bus number 100 or 206 (about 15 minutes, ¥230). Get off at either Gojo-zaka or Kiyomizu-michi bus stop, then enjoy a scenic ten-minute uphill walk to the temple.

Operation Time: Open every day from 06:00 ~ 18:00 (until 18:30 on weekends and holidays from mid-April through July, and every day in August and September)
* Also opens from 18:00 ~ 21:00 during spring and fall night illuminations (Hanatoro)
Admission Fee: ¥500 for adults (from April 2024)
