The best way to enjoy Lake Ashinoko is to board Pirates Ship Hakone Sightseeing Boats. The cruise operates between Moto-Hakone and Hakone-machi at the lake's southern shores and Togendai and Kojiri at the lake's northern end. The cruise usually takes 30 minutes and costs around ¥1000. In Moto-Hakone there are some restaurants and rest area. The main attraction in Moto Hakone is Hakone Shrine (Hakone's most famous shinto shrine). It takes around 15 minutes walk from Moto Hakone to Hakone Shrine.

Owakudani (大涌谷) is area around a crated created during last eruption of Mount Hakone around 3000 years ago. There are ropeway connecting Togendai and Owakudani. Usually tourist use the ropeway to reach here.

There is a short walking trails from the ropeway station into the volcanic zone. Here you will find number of steam vents and bubble pools.

In Owakudani, you can also purchase the black egg which are said to prolong one's life by 7 years. The eggs are actually normal eggs boiled in natural hot water in Owakudani. Due to the natural hot water, the eggs' shell are blackened by the sulfur.

In addition, Owakudani has a great view of Mount Fuji on clear days.
