Osaka Castle
Osaka Castle is Osaka’s most famous landmark. Originally built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, it has been destroyed and rebuilt several times, including during wars in 1615, 1665, and World War II.

Today, the castle stands within Osaka Castle Park, about a 15-minute walk from the park entrance. The park is famous for hanami (cherry blossom viewing) in spring. The main castle building houses a museum on Osaka’s history, and you can climb to the observatory for panoramic views of Osaka city.

The Osaka Museum of Housing and Living recreates historic streets and buildings to show what life was like in Osaka in the past. It features a unique city model from the Edo Period, the only one of its kind in Japan. Visitors can explore interactive exhibits that showcase Osaka’s development through time and even try on a yukata, a traditional Japanese garment.

Tempozan Harbor Village is located in the Osaka Bay Area, a zone made of man-made waterfront islands and peninsulas developed to support Osaka’s growth. The area features museums, theme parks, observatories, and shopping centers. Popular attractions include the Osaka Aquarium (Kaiyukan), Tempozan Ferris Wheel, and the Santa Maria Cruise.

Osaka Aquarium (Kaiyukan)
Kaiyukan’s main highlight is a massive tank holding 5,400 tons of water and featuring a whale shark. The aquarium showcases a wide variety of marine life across 15 different tanks.

Tempozan Ferris Wheel
The Tempozan Ferris Wheel is the largest Ferris wheel in Osaka, reaching a height of 112.5 meters. Located next to Tempozan Marketplace and the aquarium, it also offers see-through gondolas for those seeking a more thrilling experience—though it may be scary for visitors afraid of heights.

Santa Maria Cruise
The Santa Maria Cruise takes you around Osaka Bay in approximately 50 minutes. The boarding area is conveniently located beside Osaka Aquarium.

Shinsekai, meaning “The New World,” is a lively district in Osaka known for Tsutenkaku Tower, Kushikatsu, and Tennoji Zoo. Built in 1912 and inspired by the Eiffel Tower, Tsutenkaku stands 103 meters tall and offers great city views.

Shinsekai is also the best place to try Kushikatsu, Osaka’s famous deep-fried skewers of meat and vegetables, served in many local restaurants.

Shinsaibashi is one of Osaka’s most popular shopping districts, filled with fashion boutiques, local brands, and restaurants. Don’t miss the iconic Glico Sign, a must-see spot for photos with Osaka’s lively night view.
