DESCRIPTION
Minoo Park (箕面公園) is a beautiful forested valley located in the suburbs of Osaka. It is one of the best places in the Kansai region to enjoy autumn foliage, where the mountains turn vibrant shades of red and yellow. The peak viewing season is typically in the second half of November.
Minoo Park is easily accessible from central Osaka — only about 30 minutes from the Umeda area.
Similar to Mount Takao near Tokyo, Minoo Park offers an easy and scenic hiking experience. The hiking trail starts from Hankyu Minoo Station and leads to the famous Minoo Waterfall. It takes around 45 minutes to walk one way. Along the trail, visitors can enjoy tranquil temple scenery, with Ryuanji Temple being the most notable. The peaceful atmosphere and crystal-clear streams make the area feel like Kyoto. The main highlight of Minoo Park is the 33-meter-high Minoo Waterfall, one of Osaka’s most picturesque natural spots.
Access
Minoo Park starts just a short walk north of Hankyu Minoo Station.
From Umeda in central Osaka, take the Hankyu Takarazuka Line from Hankyu Umeda Station to Ishibashi Station (about 15 minutes), then transfer to the Hankyu Minoo Line to Minoo Station (5 minutes). The entire one-way trip takes about 25 minutes, costs 270 yen, and is not covered by the Japan Rail Pass. Trains run frequently.
