SUMMARY
Atsuta Shrine is one of Japan's most important Shinto shrines and one of Nagoya's most famous landmarks. With a history of over 1,900 years, the shrine is closely associated with the legendary Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi, one of Japan's Three Sacred Treasures.

DESCRIPTION

Atsuta Shrine was founded nearly 2,000 years ago and is regarded as one of the most sacred shrines in Japan. It enshrines Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi, the legendary sword that forms part of the Imperial Regalia of Japan.

The shrine complex is surrounded by a peaceful forest covering approximately 200,000 square meters, creating a tranquil atmosphere despite its location in the heart of Nagoya.

Within the grounds, visitors can explore numerous smaller shrines, traditional architecture, sacred trees, and cultural treasures. The Atsuta Jingu Treasure Hall displays valuable historical artifacts, swords, documents, and ceremonial objects connected to Japanese history.

The shrine attracts millions of worshippers each year, especially during New Year celebrations when visitors come to pray for health, success, and good fortune.

Atsuta Shrine is also closely associated with Japanese mythology and samurai history, making it one of the most significant cultural and spiritual sites in central Japan.

Whether visiting for history, culture, architecture, or spiritual reflection, Atsuta Shrine offers a memorable glimpse into Japan's rich heritage.
