DESCRIPTION
Churaumi Aquarium (沖縄美ら海水族館) is one of the largest and most popular aquariums in Japan, located within Ocean Expo Park in northern Okinawa. The word “Churaumi” means “beautiful ocean” in the Okinawan language.
The main highlight of the aquarium is the famous Kuroshio Tank, one of the largest aquarium tanks in the world. Visitors can admire majestic manta rays, various sharks, and giant whale sharks swimming gracefully inside the enormous tank. Many visitors spend the most time in this area because of its breathtaking atmosphere.
Near the Kuroshio Tank, there is also a small café where visitors can enjoy drinks or meals while watching the marine life through the large aquarium window.
