DESCRIPTION
Nakijin Castle is located in Motobu Peninsula in northern area of Okinawa Honto. Nakijin castle has become the second largest historical site in Okinawa and has been registered as UNESCO World Heritage. Nakijin Castle was built in the 13th century, but during the battle for Okinawa in 1945 the castle was bombed by the US military.
Nakijin Castle is different from other Japanese castles. Nakijin was built using small limestone and large carved limestone, this makes Nakijin Castle different from other castles that have straight walls. If you want to know more about Nakijin history, you can learn in Nakijin Museum of Culture and History.
Nakijin castle has unique architecture like the Great Wall from China. Nakijin will take you back to the 13th century as you once step through the gate. As you continue walking, you will see and enjoy many green trees and beautiful blue sea.
During January and February, you will be able to see beautiful cherry blossoms / sakura here. If you come to Nakijin Castle at night, you will be accompanied by a small yellow lantern lamp along the road that will give a romantic impression.
