Nagoya Castle Holds Summer Festival with Extended Evening Hours

Nagoya Castle held its 2026 Summer Festival from August 8 to August 16, giving visitors a seasonal reason to visit the castle during the Obon holiday period.

During the event, Nagoya Castle extended its opening hours into the evening. The program included bon dance events, stage performances, food and summer refreshments.

One of the highlights was the limited opening of the Southwest Corner Watchtower, one of the castle's surviving Edo-period watchtowers. Matchlock rifle demonstrations and other cultural programs were also scheduled during the festival.
