Noto Satoyama Airport to Receive Pokémon Makeover

Ishikawa Prefecture announced that Noto Satoyama Airport will reopen as Noto Satoyama Pokémon With You Airport on July 7, 2026. The project is intended to support tourism and regional recovery after the Noto Peninsula earthquake.

Ishikawa Prefecture announced plans to reopen Noto Satoyama Airport as Noto Satoyama Pokémon With You Airport on July 7, 2026.

The collaboration with the Pokémon With You Foundation is designed to encourage visitors to return to the Noto Peninsula while reconstruction continues following the 2024 earthquake.

The terminal will receive Pokémon-themed decorations, installations, artwork, signs, food and merchandise. Plans include a large Pikachu-and-airplane display, an observation area called Pikachu's Village and smartphone-accessible short films.

Specially decorated buses are planned to connect Kanazawa Station, the airport, Wajima and other attractions around the peninsula. Some routes are expected to operate mainly on weekends, holidays and selected seasonal dates.

The Pokémon airport branding is scheduled to continue until September 30, 2029. Travellers should confirm flight schedules, bus operating days and the opening status of destinations in the Noto region because reconstruction conditions may continue to affect access.
